Amy Schumer recently revealed some personal news after social media users noticed changes in her appearance during the promotion of “Life & Beth.” She disclosed that she’s been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome, a condition caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of the cortisol hormone in the body. This can result in various symptoms such as a rounded face, a fatty lump between the shoulders, and colorful stretch marks on the skin. Additionally, it can lead to health issues like high blood pressure, bone loss, and diabetes.

In an interview with Jessica Yellin’s “News Not Noise” newsletter, Schumer candidly discussed the challenges of undergoing medical tests while balancing work commitments. She shared her experience of spending extended periods in MRI machines and enduring numerous blood draws. However, she found solace in discovering that she has the type of Cushing syndrome that will eventually resolve itself.
The attention to her appearance during the Hulu series promotion, coupled with her past battles with endometriosis, prompted Schumer to take notice of her health concerns. She addressed the speculation on Instagram, acknowledging her ongoing medical and hormonal issues while reassuring her followers of her well-being.
Schumer emphasized the importance of advocating for women’s health, urging women to prioritize self-care and persist in advocating for their well-being within the healthcare system. Treatment for Cushing syndrome typically involves methods to lower cortisol levels, such as surgery, radiation therapy, or medication. By sharing her story, Schumer hopes to raise awareness and empower others to prioritize their health journey.
